How To Condense Without Losing Anything Useful And A Mid-Week Blog

Hey! A mid-week post from April here, because I saw this thing on tumblr and decided to share it. The link to this article on How to Condense you Writing popped up on my dashboard so I gave it a read, as I have a habit to… over-write sometimes. And what I’ve read is actually really helpful! All the points made are points that apply to me and so I’m definitely bookmarking it and then using it when I’ve written something too long.

So now, after all that waffle, here is the link to the post~!

The article is written by a person called Ava Jae, who is the author of a trilogy called Beyond the Red. I just looked it up because I’m curious like that, and found it on Goodreads. For anyone who doesn’t want to click the link, here’s the blurb:

Alien queen Kora has a problem as vast as the endless crimson deserts. She’s the first female ruler of her territory in generations, but her people are rioting and call for her violent younger twin brother to take the throne. Despite assassination attempts, a mounting uprising of nomadic human rebels, and pressure to find a mate to help her rule, she’s determined to protect her people from her brother’s would-be tyrannical rule.

Eros is a rebel soldier hated by aliens and human alike for being a half-blood. But that doesn’t stop him from defending his people—at least until Kora’s soldiers raze his camp and take him captive. He is given an ultimatum: be an enslaved bodyguard to Kora, or be executed for his true identity—a secret kept even from him.

When Kora and Eros are framed for the attempted assassination of her betrothed, they flee. Their only chance of survival is to turn themselves in to the high court, where revealing Eros’s secret could mean a swift public execution. But when they uncover a violent plot to end the human insurgency, they must find a way to work together to prevent genocide. ~ Beyond the Red, Ava Jae

I think I might have a read of this (as I seem to have an obsession with any books fantasy, dystopia or sci-fi), but only after I’ve finished Girl on the Train, which my library has just emailed me about to say they have it! I had been hoping to read it before I went to see the film but, alas, that was not to be. However, it doesn’t mean I wasn’t sitting in the cinema pointing out all the inaccuracies! Perhaps when it’s done I can write a review on it.

Anyway, that’s all! I wasn’t expecting this post to be as long as it when I first began to write, so this may end up being my blog for the week… as I’ll probably spend Sunday writing the Writing Challenge posts I need to catch up on and reading. I managed a writing challenge post today, the one due on the 13th (only 6 days late…) and began to write another one, but I’m still fairly behind on them, and will be even more behind on Sunday!

~ April

(from the length of this post you can probably tell why I need the article linked above, especially as this was only meant to be a short blog… it’s 555 words long xD)
