Hey all! Just making this quick blog post to let you know that we made a tumblr account! On there we’ll reblog stuff about writing, perhaps post some writing prompts and the like, and I (April) also want to do some writing challenge things, all of which will be published on there! So head on over: http://write-a-week.tumblr.com/ 😀
Well, I say all, but as of about 5 minutes ago the only views this page had received was Alice and myself when we came on to edit and check stuff… so I suppose I’m writing to myself here, but for the purpose of this post, let’s pretend I’m writing to a large group of people. As I’m actually only writing to myself explaining that was not necessary, but oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So, since we last posted anything on here, there have been a lot of updates in the world of books. As a big fantasy reader myself, the two most important things to me have been “United as One” and “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. In a Harry Potter page I made on this site (here) I spoke briefly about it, but since then there have been a lot of new developments, the main one being the script itself has come out!
When the play was first announced, I didn’t realise that the script was going to be released as a book, so I was slightly disappointed, but then I discovered the truth and was overjoyed! For ageeeeees I avoided reading spoilers on tumblr until it finally came out: very well timed on July 31st! I was lucky enough to go to a midnight release of it, and enjoyed myself there, having a go at the magical-world themed quiz (which was surprisingly hard!) and trying some butterbeer, which was nice in small sips but it was too sickly for me to finish my cup. Then there was a countdown and everyone there got their books then rushed home to start reading! I managed to finish it by 11 in the morning, having managed to get 7 hours of sleep in the middle… xD
I’m not going to say too much about the content of the book as there isn’t any way of me masking spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read it yet, but I am going to say it was slightly less… JK Rowling-like than I expected? I suppose it was a collab with other people but several times different characters acted very different to how they did in the books, and really weren’t themselves, so… mh. I did however LOVE the fact that the play picked up where the books left off: on Platform 9 3/4, 19 years later, with the Golden Trio and Ginny sending their kids off to Hogwarts.
Speaking of Harry Potter, there have been other developments in the magical world! Firstly is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is coming out in just under a month! There have been a number of trailers released (which can all be found on YouTube if you haven’t already watched them), and also the announcement that it’s going to be the first in a trilogy of films! So excited!!! The second development in the patronus quiz that was released on Pottermore just a few days ago. About half a year ago I got Alice to read the Harry Potter series and converted her into a Potterhead like myself, so when we received the email from Pottermore announcing it’s arrival we both immediately went onto the website and took it immediately xD I especially liked the format of this quiz, although the fact that the questions were timed and would disappear if you didn’t answer quick enough did make a panic a bit. Alice and I both got types of… in fact, I’ll leave that up to you to guess. If there does happen to be someone who stumbles across our site and reads this post, I’d love to know if we show any aspects of our personality through what we write! Please email us a firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any guesses about what animal we got on the patronus quiz! A hint is we both got the same type of animal, but not exactly the same breed… I’m not actually sure whether my personality is shown through my posts (or post… singular… despite the fact we promised we’d post every week when we first started the blog… *cough cough*) on here. I tend to be a lot more outgoing and loud on the internet than in real life, at least in my opinion.
However, I digress from my original plan from the post: book developments. The other book I mentioned miles up in this post (I didn’t originally plan for this to end up the length it has done) was “United as One” by Pittacus Lore! It’s the seventh book in the “I am Number Four” series and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantast and/or dystopia books! United as One came out on the 28th of June this year (2016, for all you time-travellers who are still unsure as to what year you have landed yourself in), but the first book in the series, I am Number Four, came out on August 3rd, 2010. As well as the 7 main books there’s a bunch of side-books and add-ons, which I’ve not actually read yet but are on my to-read list!
And I think that’s all I have to say for now, although I daresay I’ll be back after the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with all my opinions on that, at the latest. I’m going to try and write on here more often, at least a blog-post every couple of weeks, if I can’t managed the blog-post and writing of a story every week as Alice and I originally promised when we first started the blog. Ah, back when we were young and innocent and didn’t realise how much homework we would have xD But, until then… bye!

Alas, 41 words off 1000 words in this blog post, I might just have to keep writing for a bit, mightn’t I? Not that making it exactly 1000 words would satisfy me greatly, because I am definitely not that kind of person – aha, bingo!
